I have been working with people to help them manage their minds and change their feelings since 2002. I first qualified as a life coach, then as a master NLP practitioner and subsequently trained as clinical and cognitive behaviour hypnotherapist. I mainly work with people who are experiencing anxiety, stress, panic attacks or fears of one sort or another. I work face to face with clients from clinics in Newcastle upon Tyne and North Shields. I also help people via telephone providing life changing coaching. And then there are my self help, personal development mp3’s audio downloads, which are specially written and recorded to help people make the change they want to make.
Sometimes the reason people come to work with me is because of a behaviour they wish to change, such as comfort eating. Other times it may be because they feel they can’t control what they think about and all they think about is ‘stuff’ that upsets them. Whatever the reason you come to work with me, you can be sure that I’ll do my best to help you. But it’s not a one way street – you also have to want to change and be willing to help yourself between sessions.
Using My Knowledge to Help You:
Because I have trained in a variety of areas I am able to bring a wide range of techniques to help you make the changes you want to make. When we work together my aim is to help you achieve your goal for your therapy. I am a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, a registered practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register and associate of Association for Coaching. I abide by the codes of conduct of these organisations.
Over the last 20 years, I have worked in the public sector with young people, been a self-employed designer and latterly worked in the charity and not-for-profit sectors before founding carmor associates. I work with organisations under the carmor associates name.
My interest in people and organisational development means that I also provide facilitation, mentoring, leadership development and training. If necessary, I can call upon other professionals who work with me as Associates.
I suppose I have always had an interest in why people do what they do and this has developed over time.
I used to work for a hospice and it was a fantastic place to work, full of hope and love as well as sadness and disappointment. You might think that sadness and disappointment are bound to be found in a hospice but in many cases it wasn’t caused by the illness itself or the consequences but because people had unresolved issues or unfulfilled dreams that now they wouldn’t have the chance to achieve due to a life limiting illness.
One of the things that you become aware of when working in a hospice is that you never really know what the future holds and that it is important to make the most of what you have now and enjoy the time you have, however long or little that may be.
I was involved in fundraising, management, development, and asking myself “Why do people support a charity?” and“How do you help motivate and manage volunteers?” The answer to both those questions is manyfold ranging from the desire to help to needing to be part of a bigger group to companionship. Therefore, my interest in personal development and leadership grew.
When studying for my MBA, with the Open University, there was one module about Creative Thinking and Management that introduced many different concepts about motivation, personal and team development, problem solving, and the concept of coaching and NLP and things started to come together.
I explored what coaching is and, you know when you just know that something is ‘right’ – well I ended up training as a life coach with The Coaching Academy, one of the premier coach training organisations in the UK (passing with Distinction). Later I achieved my NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner with Jonathan Clark in Glasgow who is also a first class life coach and NLP Trainer and founder of HGE. I then went on to study with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and as I’ve mentioned am now a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and cognitive behaviour hypnotherapist.
It has been an interesting journey and one that is not over yet.
And that brings us to ‘now’ where I help people change limiting beliefs, tap into their personal resources and develop as human beings. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and skills with you so you too can create the future you want and deserve.
